Two Dallas sports owners were listed on the latest Bloomberg Billionaires Index Friday.
Miriam Adelson, new owner of the Dallas Mavericks cracked the top 50, ranking as the 43rd richest billionaire in the world with a total net worth of $35.5 billion. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones also ranked 171st with a total net worth of $12.6 billion.
Adelson, whose purchase of the Dallas Mavericks was approved by the NBA last December, is the largest shareholder of Las Vegas Sands, considered one of the largest casino operators in the world. His net worth in 2024 has increased by $1.37 billion so far. She is the sixth richest woman in the world, according to the Bloomberg index.
Adelson’s son-in-law, Patrick Dumont, replaced Mark Cuban as the new governor of the Mavericks. Cuban was also listed on the Bloomberg Index at 364th with a net worth of $7.29 billion.
Backed by Adelson’s spending power, Dumont and the ownership group have big plans for the Mavericks. Dumont spoke exclusively with The Dallas Morning News last month about hopes for American Airlines Center and possibility of new arena around a leisure complex.
Jones’ Cowboys were named most valuable NFL franchise by Forbes for 15th consecutive year last August. The Cowboys were valued by Forbes at $9 billion, 13% more than what the Cowboys were worth a year ago. Jones bought the Cowboys for $140 million in 1989.
