This is a fun video game easter egg for all Spurs fans to discover.

SAN ANTONIO — You never know what you might discover years later.

This is the case of the 1999 EA Sports video game Knockout Kings 2000 and a secret boxer who would win five NBA titles with the San Antonio Spurs.

In case you didn’t know (and if you did, congratulations), Spurs icon Tim Duncan was a secret boxer you could use to fight boxing legends like Muhammad Ali and many more.

Duncan (a huge video game fan) wore black and white boxing shorts reflecting his ties to the Spurs, with his first name on the belt. The game even captured his height and reach in the playable character.

Interestingly, the 1999 games allowed kicks in the boxing ring. Did this foreshadow Duncan taking up martial arts after retiring from basketball?

Duncan was heavily involved in video games during his gaming days. He was the cover athlete for NBA Live 2000, March Madness 1998, and Backyard Basketball on the PlayStation 2.

Of course, there’s his famous game session with David Robinson, Sean Elliott and Malik Rose after winning the 1999 NBA title.
