THE Magic officially announced the signing of several free agents on Wednesday evening. who will join them for the October training camp.
Guard/Forward Jarrett CulverGuard Myron Gardner and forwards Jalen Slawson and Tre Scott have signed Exhibit 10 deals with the Magic, a person with knowledge of the terms told the Sentinel.
A one-year contract worth the league minimum salary guarantees a player an invitation to training camp. It also allows NBA Teams must convert a player’s contract to a two-way contract before the start of the season.
The Magic still have two of three two-way contracts available, and all but one of the names mentioned above will have a chance to compete for them in camp.
Culver, a 2019 first-round pick, is not eligible for a two-way contract because he has already played four NBA seasons. He spent Las Vegas Summer League with Orlando in July alongside Gardner and Scott.
Two-way contracts allow teams to have three additional players beyond their 15 regular-season roster. These players will play between the NBA and G League, but are limited to 50 NBA games.
The Magic already have a guard Queen Trevelin on a two-way contract after splitting time between Orlando and Osceola last season.
After a busy summer of free agent re-signings and two guard additions Kentavious Caldwell-Pape And Cory JosephOrlando’s standard 15-player roster under contract is complete.
NBA teams are allowed to sign up to 21 players during the offseason, however. With the signings of Culver, Gardner, Slawson and Scott, Orlando now has 20.
The Magic are also expected to bring back the reigning G League MVP. Mac McClungwho recently reached an agreement with the Exhibit 10 team, a league source told the Sentinel. McClung attended training camp last year before spending the season with Osceola.
Gardner also spent time with Osceola as the duo helped coach Dylan Murphy’s team reach the playoffs. McClung was named to the All-NBA G League First Team.
While the Annex 10 deal doesn’t include protected compensation up front, it does provide for bonuses if a player signs with a team’s G League affiliate and stays with the club for 60 days. The bonus ranges from $5,000 to $77,500 this year.
Selected in the second round of the 2023 NBA draft by Sacramento, Slawson has played in 12 games with the Kings. He has also started 30 G League games with Stockton (Calif.), averaging 13.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.43 blocks and 1.17 steals in 34.4 minutes.
Scott, who has 80 G League regular-season games under his belt, played a combined 26 games last year with Greensboro and Osceola, averaging 6.3 pounds and 3.0 rebounds in 18.2 minutes.
Jamahl Mosley and the Magic are scheduled to begin training camp Oct. 1 at the AdventHealth Training Center.
