Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has surpassed the lofty expectations she had at the start of her WNBA career in many ways. The first overall selection in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Clark entered the league with unprecedented hype.
By making the WNBA All-Star team, Clark is not only the frontrunner for Rookie of the Year, but she’s also a serious contender for All-WNBA honors.
Known for her ability to hit three-pointers, Clark is fifth in the WNBA heading into Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Lynx in three-pointers made. While that’s an impressive aspect of her game, Clark’s greatest ability is her playmaking, as she leads the WNBA in assists.
Caitlin Clark broke the WNBA record for assists in a single season by a rookie, holds the WNBA record for assists in a single game (19) and leads the WNBA with 8.3 assists per game.

Clark’s play has been historic this season, but so has his shooting range. Shooting just 32.8 percent from three-point range, Clark hasn’t been able to hit three-pointers at a high rate, but has made (and succeeded) plenty of tough shots.
A recent statistic revealed just how impressive Clark’s shooting range has been this season, with the Fever star averaging 28 feet, 1.1 inches per three-point shot:
THE @WNBA The 3-point line is 22 feet, 1.75 inches.
THE @NBA The 3-point line is 23 feet, 9 inches.
Caitlin Clark leads the WNBA in average distance of three-pointers made this season at 28 feet, 1.1 inches, two feet further than any other player.

While that’s impressive enough without any additional context, StatMamba on X revealed that this average distance is further than Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry’s best NBA season in this category.
Caitlin Clark has an average 3-point shooting distance of 28.09 feet so far in her rookie season.

WNBA and NBA fans reacted to the incredible statistic.
βThis is crazy, but I also think she can improve in terms of shot selection,β wrote one fan. βI guess her team improving will help her too. In terms of technique, she is second to none at this point.β

“This is the only reason her 3pt percentage has dropped…she takes contested 3pt shots that are deeper than Curry or Trae,” another fan explained. “She would lead the W’s in 3pt percentage if she could take normal 3pt shots from 25 feet that aren’t really contested.”
That’s the only reason her three-point shooting percentage has dropped…she’s taking contested threes off the dribble that are deeper than Curry or Trae. She’d be leading the W’s in three-point shooting percentage if she could take normal 25-foot threes that aren’t really contested.

βSheβs taking the WNBA to the next level,β one fan added. βHer records and accomplishments are out of this world. Sheβs becoming a legend.β
