France was the home team at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and the fans’ support was palpable in every game played. Continuing their journey to the gold medal game against Team USA, the French men’s basketball team had an incredible run that ended with a silver medal.

Although San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama naturally received most of the attention for his incredible performance in Paris, several of his teammates stepped up and performed well.

Guerschon Yabusele, France’s second-leading scorer, recently signed with the Philadelphia 76ers after his impressive performances at the Olympics. France’s third-leading scorer is Evan Fournier, a 12-year NBA veteran who is expected to join the Euroleague after spending last season with the Detroit Pistons.

“After 12 seasons, Evan Fournier is leaving the NBA and signing a two-year deal worth more than $4 million with Euroleague club Olympiacos, sources say,” wrote Shams Charania of The Athletic. “Fournier averaged nearly 10 points during France’s silver medal performance at the Paris Olympics.”

Fournier was a first-round draft pick by the Denver Nuggets in 2012 and spent two seasons with the franchise before being traded to the Orlando Magic. In 12 NBA seasons, Fournier averaged 13.6 points on 44.1 percent shooting and 37.4 percent from three-point range.

At just 31 years old, Fournier should still be able to play basketball at a high level. The 12-year veteran has spent time with the Nuggets, Magic, New York Knicks, Boston Celtics and Pistons during his NBA career.
