In a new column According to Bleacher Report’s Grant Hughes’ ranking of the potential new candidates for the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, Houston Rockets center Alpen Sengun is registered in fourth place on the list.
The only players ahead of Sengun are Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs And Chet Holmgren And Jalen Williams of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Regarding Sengun, Hughes writes:
These are young stars vying for their first All-Star appearance, and Şengün deserves a spot here because he certainly proved he could do it a year ago. A few more votes from players and media this time around, and maybe he’ll break through.
Şengün is expected to be the linchpin of the Rockets’ offense again this season. Surrounded by young talent who have a good chance of improving, the skilled but physical big man could lose a point or two from the 21.1 he averaged last year. But that could be offset by an even bigger increase in assists.
Already one of the league’s best big facilitators, Şengün could join Nikola Jokić and Domantas Sabonis as the only centers
After dipping his toe into the three-point waters last year and finding it a bit cold (29.7 percent on 1.8 attempts per game), Şengün could really boost his All-Star chances if he goes all in.
Sengun drew serious consideration for All-Star in 2024It is therefore entirely plausible that he could also make his case in 2025.
The 2024-25 NBA regular season begins in October.
