PALOS HEIGHTS, IL – Chicago native and former Illinois basketball star, Ayo Dosunmubegins his third season with the The Chicago Bulls in a special way. Before heading to training camp, he will host his foundation’s first basketball and cheerleading camp for boys and girls ages 7 to 18 on September 14 and 15 in Shepard High School13049 S. Ridgeland, Palos Heights.
The camp, produced by Celebrity Sports Academy is intended for beginner to advanced skill levels. Over the course of the two days, basketball campers will go through a specific ball handling station, led by Jason Kent of Next Level Basketball; as well as work on shooting, passing and footwork at their skill and drill positions, led by Pierre Pierce of DBLP Basketball.
Time spent at the agility station will focus on speed, strength and explosiveness, led by coaches from Operation BasketballBasketball tournaments will also be played on both days, led by the camp’s basketball commissioner, Tommy Sampson, TS Basketball Training.
Campers will be instructed by Aja Streets, Average Streets Elitelearning the fundamentals, as well as a choreographed routine that will be performed on the second day of camp.
Campers will also spend time in the Sportology classroom where instructor Jeremy Holmes, of TreasureVlle Academywill guide student-athletes through the elements of his program. He will teach them the key steps to success, on and off the field, such as gratitude, effort, attitude and coachability.
Campers will be able to attend team photos with the Chicago Bulls guard on Saturday, as well as a question-and-answer session with campers at the end of the day, which parents are invited to attend.
The highlight of the camp program will be Sunday, September 15, when parents and campers will have the opportunity to participate in the Ayo Dosunmu Skills Challenge, taking on the local kid turned NBA pro. Surprise visits are planned for Sunday with Ayo’s Chicago Bulls teammates.
In conjunction with the camp, a school supply drive will be held to benefit the Ayo Dos Foundationproviding opportunities and inspiration to Chicago youth. Camp families are encouraged to bring school supplies to donate. All who donate will have the opportunity to win autographed memorabilia and the chance to compete one-on-one with Ayo Dosunmu.
