THE Detroit Pistons The Blue Bombers have been quiet lately after a busy start to the summer. However, the team’s NBA G League affiliate reached an agreement on Monday, allowing the development club to add a few new prospects.
According to Motor City Cruise’s X accountThe team completed a multi-team trade, which included the Salt Lake City Stars and the Austin Spurs.
Cruise sent Jayce Johnson’s return rights to Salt Lake City. Meanwhile, Jaylen Johnson’s rights return to the Spurs.
In exchange, Cruise acquires the rights to point guard Javante McCoy and center Reggie Kissoonlal. Motor City also acquired two draft picks.
Kissoonlal entered the NBA Draft in 2019 after attending Northwestern State University. After playing 50 games in the NCAA, Kissoonlal attempted to join the league. He played with several G League teams. In 2022, Kissoonlal played for the Boston Celtics affiliate.
Last year, the center played for the Denver Nuggets’ affiliate before playing five games with the Atlanta Hawks’ G League team. In 34 G League games, Kissoonlal averaged five points and three rebounds.
McCoy, meanwhile, went undrafted out of Boston University. He played with the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs. Over two seasons, McCoy played in 31 G League games. He averaged 11 points on 44 percent shooting and 31 percent from three-point range.
The Pistons are in a position where they have the opportunity to give developmental prospects a chance on the main roster. McCoy and Kissoonlal’s arrival in the Motor City doesn’t guarantee that day will come for them in Detroit. But the Pistons will keep an eye on the developmental team and keep everyone on the radar for a possible two-way or 10-day contract in the future.
