For years it seemed there was Tensions between former Denver Nuggets coach George Karl and Carmelo AnthonyKarl coached Anthony when he was with the Nuggets, and since they’ve both been out of the league, they’ve criticized each other in the media and on social media.
It’s unclear what exactly happened to Karl recently, but he went to X, formerly Twitter, and tweeted an apology to Anthony, wanting to let go of the beef they had had with each other over the years.
“In a time of division, where unity truly matters, I am done feuding with Carmelo Anthony,” Karl tweeted. “I have immense respect for Melo. We don’t know each other yet, but I hear he kicks ass and uses his influence to make a positive impact. From now on, it’s all about love.”
It’s not certain that Anthony will accept the apology, but it’s a big step for Karl to come out and try to make amends.
Will the conflict between George Karl and Carmelo Anthony finally end?

George Karl and Carmelo Anthony have been in constant conversation for quite some time now, and the most recent instance was when Anthony told a story about him on the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast.
“He got the job a few days before we played [the] The Milwaukee Bucks, so I’m not coaching any games. My first game, I want to do it against the Milwaukee Bucks… I don’t really know the game when he came to the team. I’m 21 now,” Anthony said. “All I know is I have a big-time coach coming in. George Karl, who coached Milwaukee, who coached Seattle… you know all that. We’re coming to Milwaukee after filming [he] he called me into his room and he said, “Hey man, I think you [are] overrated.'”
Karl then took to social media and posted a clip of Anthony telling the story and said, “Hey @carmeloanthony let’s not do this. You’re telling stories that are 20 years old. Let’s move on. And you were overrated and wish your game was as good as Detlef’s.”

Karl also called out Anthony on social media when he shared that the Nuggets were trying to be mean by letting Nikola Jokic wear the No. 15 jersey.
“Melo saved pro basketball in Denver. And he shouldn’t have demanded a trade. But the Nuggets can be mean. And there can be multiple #15s floating around in Denver. It happens all the time. And all of those things can be true at the same time!! Life isn’t black and white,” Karl tweeted.
Anthony doesn’t have to accept Karl’s apology after all the time he’s tried to get under his skin, but if he does, it’s nice to see that they can let the past be the past and move on.
