The Chicago Bulls are well positioned to complete a major deal with the Miami Heat before the start of the season.

Chicago has I tried to trade Zach LaVine for more than a year.

Reports of LaVine’s return to full health have rekindled interest in the super-athletic shooting guard, with the Toronto Raptors listed as contenders in the most recent rumor.

Miami is another potential spot for LaVine. The Heat need more offense, and Miami has several contract combinations it could send to Chicago to make a deal work.

Duncan Robinson and Terry Rozier to the Bulls in exchange for LaVine is a trade that would benefit both franchises.

For Chicago, converting LaVine’s remaining $138 million over three years into two separate two-year contracts would give the Bulls more flexibility in their rebuild.

For Miami, adding LaVine to a core that includes Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro would increase the Heat’s chances of making the playoffs as Butler enters the final stage of his career. Essentially, what Miami was looking to add with Rozier, it would add a better version of by acquiring LaVine.

Even if a Bulls-Heat trade doesn’t come to fruition in the coming months, it’s something to watch throughout the early part of the season, especially if LaVine has a productive start for Chicago.
