Kings allow Huerter to practice on court as he recovers from shoulder injury originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

The Kings have shared an injury update regarding shooting guard Kevin Huerter Friday afternoon.

Huerter has been cleared for on-field workouts, shooting drills and a full weight training program, the team said, and he will be reevaluated in mid-October before being cleared for full-contact activities on the field.

The Kings added that Huerter continues to make progress in his shoulder rehabilitation. after undergoing surgery in April to repair a torn left labrum.

Huerter suffered the season-ending injury during SacramentoVictory in extra time on March 18 against the Memphis Grizzlies at the Golden 1 Center, when he went up for a layup and the Grizzlies kept Desmond Bane appears to have accidentally pulled his left arm down.

After evaluating several treatment avenues, the sniper finally chose to undergo surgery after revealing that the shoulder problem had been plaguing him for some time.

Huerter appeared on a recent episode of “The Check Ball Show” and discussed the long road to recovery during a basketball-free summer.

“I can start going live on September 5th, so it’s been a pretty long summer,” he said. “For anyone who’s had an injury or surgery, it’s tedious. It takes forever. I’m trying to be patient. They gave me six months to recover, so we’re still trying to stay on track.”

“But I feel good. I want to try harder and be more involved. I’m looking forward to training camp on October 1st, but I really want to start doing more and getting into action.”

The Kings open the 2024-25 NBA season at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves October 24.
