Preparations for the 2024-25 season continued Tuesday with the reveal of the NBA Cup portion of the regular-season schedule. The NBA Cup is the new name for the league’s annual in-season tournament, in which teams compete for a spot in Las Vegas and a shot at bringing home the cup. NBA Cup games will be played on Tuesdays and Fridays in November and December.
THE The Philadelphia 76ers will be presented in Group A alongside the The New York KnicksTHE Brooklyn NetsTHE Orlando Magicand the Charlotte HornetsThe Knicks and Magic appear to be the biggest challenges the Sixers will face.
Philadelphia failed to advance from the group in the 2023-24 season tournament as they suffered defeats against Indiana Pacers and the The Cleveland Cavaliers.
Here’s the full NBA Cup schedule for the Sixers:
November 12 vs. New York Knicks
This game features a playoff rematch for both teams. The Knicks eliminated the Sixers in six tough games in the first round of the playoffs. Both teams have since made big additions, with New York adding Mikal Bridges and Philadelphia adds George. That game will be at 7:30 p.m. ET.
November 15 at the Orlando Magic
The Magic are a rising NBA team led by Paolo Bancherobut the Sixers should be too strong for them offensively. Orlando is a solid defensive team, but they struggle to score. This game will start at 7 p.m. ET.
November 22 vs. Brooklyn Nets
The Nets are heading into what should be a long rebuild. When the Sixers host the Nets on Nov. 22 in this NBA Cup matchup, victory should be fairly easy if they have the right mindset and attitude. That game is at 7 p.m. ET.
December 3 at the Charlotte Hornets
The Hornets, if healthy, could give the Sixers a battle of LaMelo Ballbut Philadelphia shouldn’t have much trouble coming away with a win over Charlotte in this battle. Kickoff at Spectrum Center is at 7:00 p.m. ET.
