The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the most historic franchises in the NBA.
However, those unfamiliar with the area might be surprised to learn that the team trains in New Jersey.
Tom Bergeron of ROI-NJ recently reported more details about the 76ers’ potential move to New Jersey in the future.
Spokesperson (via Bergeron): “We have worked tirelessly over the past five years to build an arena in Philadelphia and negotiations are ongoing with city leaders regarding our proposal in Market East,” the spokesperson said. “The reality is that we are running out of time to reach an agreement that will allow the 76ers to open their new home in time for the 2031-32 NBA season. Therefore, we must take all potential options seriously, including this one.”
BREAKING: The state, in an effort to lure the Sixers to Camden, is proposing a world-class arena/mixed-use project that comes with hundreds of millions of dollars in incentives. #Sixers #Camden@NJGov @NewJerseyEDA @ChooseNJ @sixers @CCSNJ @NJChamber @GovMurphy https://t.co/YVxyoDedtX

They would do like the New York Giants. They are still called the Philadelphia 76ers, but only their home games are in New Jersey.

This title is such a lure that they will continue to be called the Philadelphia 76ers, their arena would simply be moved across a bridge about 10 minutes away.
