The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the most historic franchises in the NBA.

However, those unfamiliar with the area might be surprised to learn that the team trains in New Jersey.

Tom Bergeron of ROI-NJ recently reported more details about the 76ers’ potential move to New Jersey in the future.

Spokesperson (via Bergeron): “We have worked tirelessly over the past five years to build an arena in Philadelphia and negotiations are ongoing with city leaders regarding our proposal in Market East,” the spokesperson said. “The reality is that we are running out of time to reach an agreement that will allow the 76ers to open their new home in time for the 2031-32 NBA season. Therefore, we must take all potential options seriously, including this one.”

Many fans have reacted to the rumor (Thanks to NBA Central).

Via @jbondwagon: “The New Jersey Sixers look awful 😭”

Via @SynQNuno: “They would still be called the Philadelphia Sixers, the proposed arena is a 5 minute walk across a bridge.”

Via @GBS5177: “New Jersey is literally 10 minutes from Philadelphia.

They would do like the New York Giants. They are still called the Philadelphia 76ers, but only their home games are in New Jersey.

Via @klutchagent: “Jersey is two minutes from Philly lol. It looks like they’re moving a thousand miles away”

Via @JEM_el_tarasco: “No, I’m staying in Philadelphia. For historical reasons. It doesn’t suit me.”

Via @statdefender: “The 76ers could finally win a championship if this happens”

Via @livefromtheshxd: “They won’t have any fans 💀💀😂😂everyone in New Jersey is already a Brooklyn Nets fan 💯”

Via @santonunnari: “This title is a total bait, they’ll still be called the Philadelphia 76ers, their arena would just be moved to a bridge about 10 minutes away.”
