Most of the offseason is over and we’re almost two months away from free agency. Teams are mostly ready for training camp, as in about a month they’ll be holding media days.

While it’s unlikely that any crazy moves will be made before the season starts for the Houston Rockets, it’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility. With Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun up for rookie extensions, or restricted free agency, trades could happen at any time.

Houston has a roster that needs some strengthening in the coming seasons, and that could start as early as this year.

In a recent trade proposal between three teams of Brett Siegel of ClutchPointsThe Rockets are helping two other teams facilitate a trade. The LA Clippers are in need of trades after losing Paul George to the open market and the Brooklyn Nets have hit the reset button. Both sides can help each other out, though they’ll need the Rockets’ help to make things work in this scenario.

The Clippers receive veteran forward Dorian Finney-Smith from the Nets, while Brooklyn receives Bones Hyland (Clippers), Jock Landale (Rockets) and an unprotected 2030 first-round pick from the Clippers.

In short, the Clippers got a winning forward to pair with James Harden and Kawhi Leonard, while the Nets got a young guard with high potential and an expiring contract as well as a first-round pick.

The return of PJ Tucker, a former forward from the team’s last playoff run led by Harden, would add a veteran defender to Ime Udoka’s system. The team would also gain a leader on and off the court.

It doesn’t change much, as this is essentially a Landale-for-Tucker trade, although it will depend on which of those two players the club would prefer to have. Both also have expiring contracts.
