Brooklyn Nets forward/center Jour’Ron Sharpe Sharpe has been a productive and quiet player during his first three seasons in the NBA. Playing just 13.2 minutes per game over his career, he has averaged 6.0 points and 5.3 rebounds, with this season being his best.

Sharpe’s steady improvement has been recognized by Bleacher Report, as Zach Buckley Sharpe was recently listed as one of the Nets’ “hidden gems.” Buckley’s in-depth analysis of his effectiveness shows just how underrated Sharpe is in Brooklyn:

“He [Sharpe] “He increased his assist rates to within 3 feet (25.1 to 26.8) and from 3 feet to 10 feet (10.2 to 14.4). He averaged more assists (1.4) than turnovers (1.1) for the first time,” Buckley said. “His defensive rebounding percentage (27.9) and defensive win shares (1.3) were career highs. His net differential went from deep in the red (minus 13.5 points per 100 possessions) to bright green (plus 10.0).”

“He was a reliable and productive player on both ends of the floor. He had well above average percentages for both offensive (74th) and defensive (71st) plus or minus ratings.”

Sharpe won’t start this season, as the Nets’ forward line is already crowded with Nicolas Claxton, Cameron Johnson and Dorian Finney-Smith, and sophomores Jalen Wilson and Noah Clowney should get more opportunities as Brooklyn rebuilds.

But Sharpe could still improve as a linebacker or center. At 6-foot-10, he doesn’t tower over other bigs, but he’s imposing at 260 pounds. At 22, Sharpe should improve further with a rebuilding Nets team, getting more opportunities to show how productive he is.
