“I’ve seen a lot of stupid ideas but this might just be the cherry on the cake,” wrote one Spurs fan on social media.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs are in the midst of a rebuild, and future trades could be on the cards if the team decides to reorganize its roster.

However, one player who is likely never traded is Victor Wembanyama.

It would take an incredible offer for the Spurs to consider trading their franchise player on a scale the NBA has likely never seen before.

But would trading for LeBron James from the Lakers be enough to trade Wemby?

Probably not, but a fan media outlet has proposed a deal involving Wemby, James and more, and Spurs fans have roundly criticised it.

Fan site Basketball Forever shared on social media its fictional trade of Wemby and Jeremy Sochan to the Lakers, with the Spurs landing James, Austin Reaves, D’Angelo Russell and the 2026 first-round pick.

Spurs fans saw the exchange made by a fan and started criticizing him on X.

Here’s a sample of the extent to which Spurs fans completely disagreed with the proposed deal:

It’s safe to say that Spurs fans are not in favor of this fan-proposed deal, and for good reason.

James is seeing the end of his NBA career come to an end while Wemby is just beginning his.

And do Russell, Reaves and another added first-round pick move the needle to get closer to equal value for the French big man?

Additionally, adding Sochan and Wemby to the Lakers would likely propel them back to being among the best in the West, while the Spurs would take a step back in this rebuild.
