With limited roster spots available in the NBA, remaining free agents will have a hard time finding an opportunity before next season. While teams continue to hand out “Exhibit-10” contracts that give players the opportunity to compete for a spot in training camp, those deals rarely result in a regular roster spot.
Justin Holiday, an 11-year NBA veteran and 2015 champion with the Golden State Warriors, is among the free agents still looking for a team. Last season, he played for the Denver Nuggets and played in 58 games, averaging 4.0 points and shooting 40.4 percent from three-point range.
In a recent article, Dan Favale of Bleacher Report urged the Sacramento Kings to sign Holiday.
“The Sacramento Kings should be very interested in using him at No. 15,” Favale wrote. “Even with the emergence of Keegan Murray and Keon Ellis, and the improvement of De’Aaron Fox, they have room for another perimeter defender. And if Holiday can maintain or match his 40.4 percent three-point shooting in Denver, he could be more valuable to them than Jalen McDaniels.”
Holiday, who is still a good three-point shooter, could bring bench depth and league experience to Sacramento. Having played 59 games for Golden State in the 2014-15 season, Holiday won a championship in his first full year in the league.
