For the first time in a long time, Oklahoma City will be a highly sought-after team in the NBA 2K series. With a deep starting lineup, the team could even be considered an overachiever.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is one of the highest ranked players in the game and Jalen Williams And Chet Holmgren are on pace to reach a 90 overall rating. All of Oklahoma City’s expected starting five players have an overall rating above 80.

Isaiah Hartensteinwho will likely come off the bench and provide depth to the Thunder’s frontcourt, is Oklahoma City’s fifth-best player in terms of overall rating at 81.

Hartenstein is obviously highly rated as a finisher and rebounder in the NBA video game—as he’s near the top of the pack in both categories in real life—but one of his lowest ratings should surprise anyone who knows his game. Bleacher Report recently published a article listing the most disrespectful NBA2K25 rating of each team, and the one in Oklahoma City was pretty obvious.

Hartenstein received an overall grade of 52 in the playmaking category after being one of the most creative big men in the NBA. He may not dribble to the ball like Nikola Jokic Or Victor Wembanyamabut he is an excellent passer and an intelligent player.

“Most centers aren’t known for serving their teammates, and it’s fitting that Hartenstein’s grade in that area is lower than most guards and wings,” Grant Hughes wrote. “But even relative to his positional peers, it’s low. While not on the same level as Domantas Sabonis (71) or Bam Adebayo (70), Hartenstein is somehow closer to undefeated fumbler Rudy Gobert (43) than either of those two.”

“Last season, Hartenstein’s short passes were one of the only ways a struggling Knicks offense could score if Jalen Brunson was blocked. Hartenstein doesn’t pound the dribble or dominate the ball, but he had a stellar assist-to-usage ratio in the 90th percentile or better in his position in two of the last three years. His rating doesn’t come close to reflecting that.

Hartenstein will have plenty of opportunities to improve his grade throughout the season in Oklahoma City’s system. He’ll be the perfect player to complement the Thunder’s offense. Still, his grade as a playmaker should be much higher.
