Fans will soon be able to watch seven New York sports teams on one media platform.
YES Network and MSG Networks are jointly launching an app this fall called “The Gotham Sports App,” with the two companies announcement Wednesday afternoon. The app will allow fans to watch the New York Yankees and six other Empire State teams on a direct-to-consumer basis.
“With the increasing fragmentation of media outlets delivering fan-favorite sports programming, the Gotham Sports app provides fans of our teams with an easy access point to New York area sporting events from MSG Networks and the YES Network,” said Andrea Greenberg, president and CEO of MSG Networks, in a statement.
Besides the Yankees, teams included in the deal include the Brooklyn Nets, Buffalo Sabres, The New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, The New York Knicks And New York Rangers.
The app will be free for consumers with traditional pay TV plans that offer both YES and MSG, and $41.99 per month for consumers without traditional pay TV plans.
